Tanzanian Contestants Evicted from Big Brother Stargame
Last night Tanzanian contestants Hilda and Julio were evicted from the Big Brother House. At first it appeared as if they were safe as Ike called out the contestants from Zimbabwe, Teclar and Maneta.
In a twisted turn of events, Maneta was safe and was taken to the Upville House whereas Teclar, Julio and Hilda were informed that they had been evicted from the Big Brother House!
Welcome back home Hilda and Julio. It is too soon to see you guys back, but ............it was just a game......worth USD 300,000.

Feeling like a failure
Has it ever happened to you that you get so excited about an accomplishment that you have achieved and you can't wait to talk about it. You look for the one person who is closest to you be it your best friend, spouse, parent, sibling etc. So the minute you excitedly tell them, instead of receiving encouraging remarks and a pat on you back for all you have done....all you receive is " Why didn't you do it this way?"" You should have done that".
In such an instance what can you do? Most of the happiness you were feeling would slowly start evaporating and leave you feeling not good enough. How can one escape that feeling? By not sharing your successes? By ignoring any negative remarks? Or better yet, by ensuring that you let whatever negative remark is being said, come through one ear and leave through the other.
Kids are usually traumatized by all this. Take an example of a kid who has just gotten a B- in a subject that he used to fail. He comes home all happy and rushes to show the test to his parent. The parent takes the test and starts giving the kid a lecture. 'If you spend more time studying you will be able to get an A, everytime you come home , you change and quickly rush to play at the neighbors house. Why cant you be like other kids, this is a simple subject".....and the lecture goes on and on.
Criticism is fine, especially constructive criticism, but let's first of all think of how we present it. First of all give a little praise for the effort done by the other party, then give the comments in a civilized manner. As long as you get the message across without making them feel bad, it's all good.

Talking about your personal life......
People are different when it comes to communication. There are some of us who do not like to ask many questions and pry into other people's lives. There are also those who like to know everything about a person. When is it the point that you draw the line? I would not want to know where a friend or acquaintance's husband works., how would that help me? I only ask whatever I feel will be useful for me at that point. Everything else , not interested. There are some people who even dare to ask "so how much are they paying you there?' Jeez, of what use will my salary be to you? Do you plan on helping me pay my bills if it's not enough?
On the part of people who talk about themselves....when you are stressed and need to let it out, its acceptable if you talk to someone close to you. In such a situation you are releasing your stress and it helps in calming you down. But then again...you can't talk about each and every thing with just anyone. If we have met like 3 times and the third time you are telling me about how your aunt was nearly chosen as Prime Minister and you come from a family of wealthy people...seriously I will make my excuses and leave you there. So your family is rich....and? Will you live a longer life because of your wealth? Are you immortal?
For those who are given the gift of the gab....watch your words and choose what you speak and to whom. Some people are not what they seem. They wait for the perfect time when you are down, to start reciting everything you ever said.
Don't get me wrong....be open....but not too open....or else get ready to face the consequences.

The weekend is here......what to do?
After a long week the weekend is here yet again. I don't know if this applies to other people as well, but sometimes weekends are gone before they even start. You have a long list of things to do over the weekend and in most cases they are obligations.
Going shopping, buying groceries, visiting sick relatives, fixing the car, attending a wedding, attending a kitchen party...and then it is sunday evening again. Bracing yourself for the coming week. When you reflect on what you have done over the weekend, you will find that you have spent 80% doing chores or errands that you could not do during the week.
So when the weekend is here, find time to relax, enjoy yourself and do those things that make you happy. After all, you are supposed to be resting after a hard week of slaving trying to make a living.
In Dar streets you will find the traffic heading to city center in the morning is the same as week days! The only time when there is no traffic would be maybe Sunday evening, when people are at home trying to relax for a few hours before starting the week all over again.
Well, the weekend is here, relax and have a good one!

What amount of salary is "enough"?
It reaches a time in our lives when we decide , it is time to look for another job that pays well. We start applying for jobs that seem like they pay much better than what we are currently earning. So you get excited when called for an interview, then later on being told you were successful . So the job pays you a net salary 500,000/= more than your previous salary.
At first you think now I can manage to live comfortably! Maybe you will be able to save more than you previously did. After 2-3 months you start feeling the same way you felt in your previous job. The money is not enough!
What amount of salary will make you comfortable? Will your pattern of spending remain the same as it was like the day you got your first job?
With additional income comes additional expenditures. All of a sudden you want to eat at good restaurants, you want to visit high class hotels and joints, because now you can afford it .
At the end of the day you go back to the same place you were before you got a salary change. Waiting for the paycheck at the end of the month.........
